Getting the thin envelope

Sometimes it’s easier not to talk about the bad news—but the truth is that applying to college isn’t always an easy process. Rejection comes with the college application territory, but it’s not the end of the world.

In fact, in our most recent issue of the NextStepU magazine, we delve into this exact topic. With the expert advice of author and former admissions professional Risa Lewak, we give a few pointers on how to deal with the bad news.

For instance, Lewak jokes that it’s OK to brood. “It’s OK to dwell for a while. Allow yourself some time to obsess, sulk, vent,—anything that will help you get the pain out of your system. Don’t, however, indulge too long. If you’re still crying at your graduation ceremony, seek help.”

For more on this topic and to read the full article by Risa Lewak, check out How to cope with rejection.
